The turnout at the European Parliament elections on 7 June, 2009, was 59.54 per cent of the total number of voters, which was 4,057,100. A total of 2,415,568 votes were cast, of which 113,773 votes were cast in advance, equalling an advance voting percentage of 4.7. The no. of blank votes was 67,219, and the no. of other invalid votes was 6,221, or a total of 73,440 invalid votes, equalling a percentage of 3.04 invalid votes in total.
